In the work place, why are female colleagues so spiteful to one another...why are male bosses easier to get on with then a female one?? Reason: through observing whats going on at my work place.

Best Answer:
It's not just at work. Females tend to be more spiteful toward one another than they are toward males in many social situations. It's just competition. As far as male bosses generally being more easy going... I think that boils down to hormones and anatomy. However, I've got a female boss, and she's great. My last boss before her was also a female... she was okay, too.

A:
From my experience female managers have worked very hard to get where they are, and are very very territorial of their position...anything that looks like an attempt for their job will be met with scorn.

Ha ha ha ha ha - come work here! Mean are just as bitchy and love to backstab and gossip just as much, they are just way better at hiding it under their matcho exterior. Do not be fooled!

Maybe women feel that they need to be pushy and aggressive in positions of power, haven't quite got the hang of that testosterone rush.

It varies from workplace to workplace. I've never worked in such an environment - so it isn't across the board; however, to be fair - I have worked with some incredibly spiteful men.

A:
competition. women always are jealous and compete against each other. a woman with authority has to fight hard to be taken serious and not be taken advantage of.

A:
I have often seen this happening and my girlfriends have also said similar has happened at their places of work. The reasons are no doubt varied, but those that I know have had problems due to a combination of protecting their own jobs and being in a clique of people that prefer to sneer than help. I would have to agree with Pepper though, I have worked with some incredibly spitefull men too, if less.

A:
Cause women have a glass ceiling over their heads and have to fight to get anything while their make counterparts are higher paid, and more easily promoted.

I totally agree I hate working with a crown of women or women supervisors/managers even though I am female. men are easier to work with and make better bosses, I think the female boss is scared in case you are after her job.
Answered by jackie m

A:
Probably true but women have to be twice as "good" as men and therefore they guard what they have had to fight for.

This is so true i have experienced this too...you know, i think it has something to do with jealousy, some of we women are so b!tchy towards each other there is no sister hood, just watch the way men bond great isn't it?....with regards to male bosses they are much easier to work under than female ones.....brilliant question!

women are like that in every day life. (many) men are easy going and don't feel the need to get on with everyone, and don't let it spoil the day/week/month/year if they are put in a room with someone that they dislike. They just get on with it. Women are competitive too!

Males tend to not be high maintenance and let stuff roll of their back. I've worked in an office environment with both all men and another all women. The one with all men are much better. You do have to deal with some cussing or perverted words..but that's not a big deal to me. The one with all the women would bicker over the most stupid stuff and have to "talk" about everything!

I have worked in offices where there were men and women and the women seemed to be a bit angry. However, I also worked for a company where all the employees were women and there was never any of the petty squabbles or arguing.

well I can go with either a male or a female boss, it doesnt seem to matter to me, I get along with most people, including my female coworkers...Im a healthcare provider so I work in a hospital with many, many females and we generally have a good time, but the nature of our business requires a lot of teamwork, and there's no glamour involved, so maybe thats why we dont have much of the cattiness you describe.

A:
hey remember the authority figure usually blends with the men so as a woman, she may tend to have the mentality that she has to be bold and vicious to get her employees respect. Can't really blame the females alone, our world's society has contributed a great deal in today's people
Answered by darkangelbird

A:
I think women have to work harder to achieve the same status as a man in most work situations. Men are praised when they are confident but women are considered pushy when they are confident. I have worked for men and women bosses. I have a strong personality and I am not easily intimidated. The women bosses I have had appreciated these traits and many had the same traits. Most men bosses I have had are easily intimidated by a woman who doesn't fear speaking her mind. So I don't really agree with your general statement. I think if a woman is having a hard time working with other women they need to look inside themselves for the problem. Time to stop blaming everyone else.

It's the truth....when you have to work with a bunch of women, it just gets STUPID. And don't let them all get on the same cycle..... However, I have worked with some pretty flaky men too.

A:
Your right, although I have been out of the workplace for some years. It definetly starts early, according to the stories my two girls (aged 10 and 12) come home with from school. Girls bicker and fall out over the smallest thing and can carry it on for sometime. Boys on the other hand don't seem to be quite so petty. Yes, they can fight and fall out, but they don't seem to carry it on quite as much as girls.

I agree. Every job where i have had a male boss, I've enjoyed. As soon as a female comes in - forget it. Bitchy comments whispered over the tea break, often having nothing to do with work everywhere! Bring on the men I say........

Salinah, according to a psychologist on big brother once[[slightly irrelevant atm lol but here we go]] women do it up front so it happens more often because people do things more often than seen or basically quite a lot that annoys one another, but another issue is men, they don't seem that bad but they do it sneakily etc n say little things but it appears that it doesn't bother them that much but it will, they just won't express it in an emotional sense.

I don't understand it either -- I prefer to work for male bosses and with men in general. Luckily I do right now. Past jobs, where I worked for women -- I was miserable.
