If you were going to be interview for a laborer position, what would you wear? This job is on the books and it pays well. When I interview in the past for these type of position it didn't matter how you was dress, because the job was off the books and the employer was desperate to hire. Please help, and thank you for your answer(s).

I would not recommend a tie for an interview in construction. I have worked in the front office of similar industries and some interviewing for a laborer position wearing a tie would have seemed odd. I would go with khakis and a nice button down shirt.

A:
You cannot go wrong with dress slacks and a nice shirt with a collar. A tie might be nice as well but it is optional.

Boots, Dickie pants, plaid shirt and a tool belt. If I was interviewing people for a laborer's job, I'd be impressed with that garb. GOOD Luck

Seeing as it's manual labor and they may ask you to do something, I'd suggest a clean good pair of jeans (or sturdy working pants), a decent button up shirt (no too fancy, but your basics) and your work boots (perhaps clean em off a bit too). Really you want to present a clean appearance. Clothing is only part of it.

I assume you're female because of your screename. Have you been asked to the office for the interview? If you are, you can wear just a clean/neat pair of pants and a shirt of some type. Make sure your shoes are clean and presentable. If it's a field interview, jeans and a casual top are probably OK - again make sure they are clean and in good repair. Your work boots are probably OK but make sure they aren't caked with dirt or anything. Good luck.

Dress nice but not too fancy. If it is a first interview, you're being considered for the position, then a nice shirt/sweater, slacks, and nice dress shoes will be sufficient: something you'd be comfortable wearing in church. It is your intent to sell yourself at a first interview, so you need to present your self as articulate, vibrant, and personable. You need to stand out in the interviewer's mind amidst a sea of endless interviews. Good luck!

Well the rule of thumb is to dress up one level from what you are wearing at work, so maybe some Khakis and a button up shirt... nothing too fancy that makes you look like you afraid to get dirty, just enough to look profession.
