Know anyone that loves their job, what do they do for a living?
Asked by whitsonboy
I do not feel like I am very aware of the kinds of jobs out there that are really enjoyable. Obviously everyone is different so I will tell you some jobs that seem interesting to me are: Contractor, Real Estate Investor, Mechanical Engineer, Financial Adviser, Landscape architect, Interior design, Import/ export, Carpenter, Product design, Machinist. If you love your job please tell me what a typical day is like. Also what is a good path to get that job.

I'm a housewife. Although many people don't think it's a job, cleaning up after my husband, caring for my 5-month-old daughter, taking care of a 10-week-old puppy, cooking 3 meals a day, taking care of laundry, groceries, driving my husband to work because he doesn't have a license, taking care of the car, yard work, bills, cleaning, dealing with our landlord and everything else I do every day just to make sure the house runs smoothly is hard work! On top of it all, my husband is in the military! But I wouldn't change my job for anything in the world. I love that I'm a real parent and can raise my daughter like a mother should. I'm there for her and my husband 24-7, no questions about it! I'm even starting college again! I get to provide love, a HOME (not just a house with furniture) and a support system for my family and nothing in the world can replace that. The best part about my job as a military housewife is I get to travel all over, meet new people who I instantly have something in common with and go on vacation once a year guaranteed! The best way to become a housewife is to find someone who loves you and who supports your decision to do so (you'd be surprised to see how many men AND WOMEN are against becoming homemakers or being married to one!) (And don't get me wrong, I'm no where near a conservative, as a matter of fact, I'm far from it! I don't like anything our President's done... except for that whole choaking thing, I don't like how our country as a whole is so divided, I despise the way things are right now, but I've got so much on my shoulders already I don't know if I can handle much more - but I damn well try!)

I'm a Librarian and I love it. I love books, love to read, love to talk about books. Figure out what you love, then do it.

Computer programmer. And since some of our clients are in the adult web business, I actually get paid to look at porn during working hours! A good way to get a job as a programmer is to have a degree, not necessarily in computer science—mine's in organic chemistry. The other part is to become proficient at programming, which is most likely to happen if you spend time with people who are at least as knowledgeable as you are in the subject and share what you know. Learn the difference between useful technology and Microsoft. Having some idea of what goes on inside a computer when it runs a program will help you avoid clueless mistakes in programming, to know how and where to start looking for program bugs, and to write more efficient programs. Having a good math background never hurt either.

I am a private practice physician. I love my job helping adults and children daily—sometimes the hours are long. I went to medical school and have always been thankful that I took that path..

Predictable and Pollyanaesque, but I'm a teacher and love it. You're mind is always active, dealing with 20 different situations at once. I can tell you, middle schoolers are much more fun to deal with than the general public. Just when I think I have problems, I look at my students who have more sh!T than I could ever dream of, plus I do make a difference to one or two of them (just a bit of a God complex for saving them). Plus summers off, one week off every nine weeks, benefits, and easy sleeping at night. Give it a shot, look into volunteering in a classroom/school (charter schools are always itching for mentors) or work as an aide, plus most colleges have a fast track program for teaching degrees and credentials. You won't get rich, but it will put food on your table and a roof over your head (especially if part of a two income household).
