What exactly do you do for Sales Associate training?
Asked by smilest_16_2002
I just got a job at a grocery store as a cashier, can anyone tell me what you do during training, and what to expect. Some tips would be nice too.

It gets you started with the basics from customer service;to customer questions,;getting familiar with the cash register and store; and actually starting the job for real.
For tips, just be listening and always have a nice smile to your boss, coworkers and customers.

Training is perhaps the worst thing you can go through, because it's dumbed down so everyone can understand. You'll watch videos on company policy and how to deal with customers. Then you'll shadow some of the employees for a probationary period (1-2 weeks).
It sucks.

You'll probably spend the better part of your first week shadowing an experienced cashier, just learning the ropes on how to operate the equipment. Cashier is a tough job and can be monotonous but it's like anything else - you can make of it what you will.
My advice is have fun with the people...both your co-workers and your customers...ask questions and practice remembering names and etc about all the folks you help check out in a day...and no matter how bad you're feeling, never let it show. Always be smiling and courteous when you're on the job and customers, co-workers and perhaps most importantly management will love you.
Plus you never know what opportunities await you in a check out line.
I met my wife when she was working at a local grocery store and I just happened to be home from college on the wkend.
