If you decide to talk to the store manager keep the conversation as brief as possible. Basically, tell him who you are and that you submitted an application. Ask him if the position is still open and if they've begun interviewing people yet. Remember, his time is valuable and he'll schedule time to talk to people he's interested in interviewing in between managing the establishment. A brief introduction can be a positive for you, but if you become too chatty or try to take too much of his time and you become a liability and you haven't even been hired yet. Also, don't single out the store manager, whoever the manager of the day is will be effective enough.

Being a starbucks manager myself...keep it short. Managers are really busy constantly...and if it's not a scheduled thing...they won't have tons of time to talk. Just tell them who you are....that you applied...why you want to work there...and what hours you are looking for.
