A caregiver has more earning potential if they are a live-in caregiver. However, both professions make about the same (unless the caregiver is in the home for medical reasons and is some sort of nurse - the pay is more for nurses). The average is about $9 per hour for both jobs unless you are live in (in which case room and board and other living expenses are taken care of).
