I love you when you dont suck
Interview tomorrow for a cleaning job..How can I better my chances, and calm my nerves?
Asked by I love you when you dont suck
I always freak out the night before an interview, lose sleep and contemplate not going because I get so nervous. What can I do tonight to calm myself and be able to sleep, and what can I do tomorrow, to better my chances of getting hired? I know it's just a cleaning job but it's good pay and great benefits and I really need a job

I'll cross my fingers for you! I have the same trouble. I hate interviews. Sometimes it helps to take half an hour as your time to freak out over the situation and worry all you need to. Let yourself freak out, pace, fret, and get it all out. Then, when the half hour's over - No more of that! If you have access to Zanax or any other lightweight tranq, tonight's the night for it. First take a long walk so you can get physically tired. You might want to rent a movie you've been wanting to see, something that will take your mind off the situation for the evening. Have a nice supper, something that you know won't upset your stomach. Then, in time to get to bed by eleven, a long bath, and your sleeping pill - after setting the clock, of course. You should wake up well rested and mellowed out. There is a lot of demand for reliable people who can do a good job cleaning. Your interviewer will be wanting to hire you, not looking for reasons not to. If you come across as personally well-groomed, well-spoken, and polite, you should have no trouble. In your question, you express yourself well, and that's a big plus: you will be able to understand clients' directions and communicate well with them. I occasionally have my house and my parents' house cleaned by a franchise cleaning service that is probably much like the one you're applying to. Their cleaners learn to follow routines that cover most cleaning situations, they've been very helpful to us, and I appreciate them. The only problem I've ever had with them was when occasionally the whole team had problems with reading and got freaked out when I handed them a list. I learned that I had better go over anything special, like not touching my desk or spraying cleaning solution on a cloth and then cleaning picture glass, not spraying the picture itself, out loud. I didn't complain because this problem wasn't one that the cleaners could have solved on their own. But literacy AND flexibility are definitely good. Let your interviewer know that you can learn the company's routines AND respond to the client's special instructions. Someone who can do both of these things should become a valued employee.

ahh sweety you have nothing to worry about!! Go confident that you have the skills they need. and you do, don't you?! don't even doubt it for one second!!! Big tip, go as pretty and as clean as possible as you can. Not sure if they have told you to wear something specific but a white blouse; it looks clean and sharp. Take a tea and go to sleep, you'll need to rest and most importantly, have a good breakfast! you need to be awake...anything else i can help you with let me know! G'luck J

Just think to yourself that your just meeting an old friend and that it's not a huge deal as it may be but it'll help calm your nerves. Dress correctly and as clean as possible, have a lot of recommendations, and make a good first impression. Good luck.

First look at your past accomplishments and use those as a foundation. Do you have certain things that you excel at use those thing as your platform to boost confidence. Relax the worse thing that can happen is they say no. I don't think your going to walk out of the office out the door and have a heart attack once you get to the street. Visualize your self already in the interview think about what kind of questions they might ask and go from there

I know I do the same thing no matter what kind of job interview it is but I can tell you to drink some chamomile tea and take a bath and give yourself a manicure so that you look clean and well put together. Figure out what you are going to wear tonight and have it pressed, clean up the shoes you are going to wear and your jewelry laid out so that you don't have that anxiety about anything asbout your appearance. don't drink alot of caffeine before you go because for me that tends to make me more nervous. I am sure you will get the job! Fill out the application in your best penmanship and keep your chin up and exude confidence.... Good Luck

Tell your self 100 times that you are a cleaning specialist. Believe that cleaning is your specialty, there is no reason for you to be nervous because your not going to be interview for a position that your not familiar with. Good Luck........

dress semi appropriate for the job, obviously not jeans and a tee but do not wear high heels, flats(like you'll wear on the job) are much more appropriate for this position. Durring the interview a good reason for wanting the job is "I would like to further my experience" or "I enjoy seeing before and after and knowing that I was the one who did it." never use such phrases as "i really need the job" or "this pays better than my last job" use such phrases as i take pride in my work or i am honest and responsible good luck
