Does anyone know what the orientation process for Target Store's includes?
Asked by darly
I am going for my orientation at Target Store this Wednesday night. I was wondering what it consists of and how long it takes. Do they give you a schedule at that time, and, how long before you actually start working, also do they start you off with only so many hours or is it an actual weekly schedule? Thank you for your help and for your answers to my previous question about Target.

You'll get your schedule for the first two weeks, but it's going to change every week. Like this week, I'm working Sun/Tues/Thurs/Sat mornings, whereas last week I only worked Tuesday night and Thursday morning. Usually, they'll give you a pretty consistent schedule while you're training, but it'll be an actual weekly schedule (I worked 40 hours my first week.)
You should start the day after orientation. They will make damn sure your orientation is less than five hours, because you're paid for orientation and if it goes over five hours they have to give you a meal break.
There'll be lots of paperwork to fill out (tax stuff, in-case-of-emergency forms, etc.) and you'll watch videos on safety and on how to deal with people. They'll also give you a packet that includes your handbook and info on things like benefits packages, and you'll get a temporary name tag.
Welcome to Target! If you have any other questions, you can send me a message.
p.s. unlike the previous poster, I think it's an excellent place to work. To each his/her own, I guess.

When I worked there last year the orientation was from 5-10pm and yes it lasted til 10pm. They just tell you about the company, how much their store makes, their security, safety precautions, you will watch like 5 videos some are crazy, yes they should give you your training schedule, I started like a day or two after orientaion, I quit after 2 weeks, like most ppl. I hated it, get to know the store because customers are pissed off when you dont know where things are even if your name tag states that your training!
