Career Questions and Answers

What medical career do you think fits my personality?
Asked by nujabez
I'm thinking about Licenced Practical Nurse, Physical Therapist Assistant, or Radilogy technician I'm not kind of good at dealing with other people. I'm good at figuring stuff out and doing it by myself. I prefer to follow commands or instructions given to me. I love helping elderly people. I'm not that good at paper works. I just want a career that can give me a decent living.

Nursing and PT require you to intereact very personally with patients. Radiology tech does to some degree, but not as personally as the other two. As a PTA, you are given guidelines to a treatment program by the PT, but you can make the decision how to apply it. Both nursing and PTA require heavy amounts of paperwork. As a radiology tech, you are more or less told what type of procedure to perform, but might have to make some decisions such as positioning, etc. Less paperwork is involved for this career. All three of these careers are in high demand (well, maybe RN more than LPN) and make comfortable livings. However, it sounds like radiology tech is more up your alley.

You will be dealing with people in all of the professions you listed. The LPN would pay the most and will offer an opportunity to deal with elderly people. Radiology would involve less personal interaction. You will need to document your work in all of the positions, but are usually given instructions as to what you needs to be done. Any of them will provide a good living. All will require less than 2 years of training or higher education.

You do not need to be a licensed practical nurse. A nurse has to be good at dealing with other people such as patients, patients families, caregivers, doctors, other staff etc.A nurse also has to excel at tons of paper work trust me this I know from personnel experience from over twenty years! You must be good at these things or you will either fail or be very miserable and your patients and co workers will also be. It is a decent wage but trust me you earn every penny of it and deserve more! I love nursing but sometimes I just get tired of the over load.Think hard and long. It is a great career but it takes dedication and it does take sacrifice. If you are in it for the "money" it is the wrong career for you.
