What's the best way to quit a cashier job that you have only been at 2 weeks?
Asked by apaden
I have 8 years of experience being a cashier, but this job is not a good fit for me. The company has some policies that I'm not comfortable with. I just don't know what the best way to quit is. Do I have to give 2 weeks notice, do I tell the front end supervisor, the front end manager, or the general manager of the store? Help please!

Wow I am amazed and the inconsiderate answers by people saying "dont show up" and "dont give 2 weeks notice" Did this employer give you a job? Yes, then at least give them the courtesy of a 2 week notice to fill your position! You don't know what its like on the other end no matter what your reasons are! These are called MORALS!

put in your two week notice or just don't show up.

Just quit, as simple as that. You have not been there that long to worry about it. It has only been two weeks, you cannot even use them as a reference. Trust me when it is time for them for fire you, they won't care how long you have been there.

give 2 weeks notice if you can...they may not want it. Tell your sup and mgr. NEVER put this job on your resume.

you do not have to put in a 2 weeks notice considering you havent been there long. I WOULD NOT JUST NOT SHOW UP. that is rude, and word can get around. people come on think, lets say you just don't show up, who is to say the next place to REALLY want to work at wasnt friends with the manager at the previous job? like someone said already, you can't use them as a reference anyway. out of the 3 you mention to talk to, i would talk to the one you are most comfortable with. who hired you? that is probably the one you should talk to. just tell them its not working out for you, and you are no longer wishing to work there. you should finish out the rest of what they already have you scheduled to work, but other than that you are fine.

Give a two week notice and stick it out. Tell both the front end super and the front end manager.

Yes put in your two weeks notice. That way if you want to go back to that job at least you know you left on good terms. Tell them something else came along or family problems in which you have to leave. Or simply tell them the truth, that it's not for you.

Out of common courtesy, I would give 2 weeks notice. I would not just quit or not show up, regardless of whether or not how long I had been there or whether or not I was going to use them as a reference. I would go to the general manager of the store and say just what you said here...it was not a good fit for you. Who knows, they might not care if you left earlier than 2 weeks.

I'd say just don't show up for work tomorrow and don't claim the work experience on a resume if you don't have to. Not exactly honest, but you can't really claim experience when you haven't worked at a job for more than just a few days. Just don't show up tomorrow, and spend the day looking for another job instead.
