mattw112
how much should I pay (per hour) for general labor?
Asked by mattw112
I need some guys to help dig a trench and to move some bricks from point A to point B. Not sure how much to pay them though. It would be a couple days of work. I don't want to go through a temp agency like labor ready as I already know some guys, but not sure how much to offer them. I'm thinking $10 - $15 per hour is good since it would be a cash transaction.

A lot of it depends on where you are in the country. In a big city, you'll be paying more than if you're in a rural area. If they're really just digging with shovels and moving bricks manually or in a wheelbarrrow, start off by offering them $10 and gradually move up to $15 if they don't go for the lower amount. You'll have to pay more if they need to use a backhoe or ditch witch to do the digging because people who know how to use those tend to cost more.

a lot depends how much knowledge is requird and specialzed equipment.. if someone is willing at that price do it before he changes his mind.. it also depends in what country and what part of the country.. in NY that would be a steal
