Skill wise they will 9 out of 10 times ask you to be customer friendly and have cash handling experience as well as being presentable.
As far as I know they require you to be at least 18 and having passed high school at least with a GED(at smaller banks). Teller line is also the end of the line for someone without a college degree at most banks. Only "old school" managers at small credit unions and banks have only an associates degree or lower. If you want a banking career get a teller job at a good bank that pays you for college expenses if you work part time even and then get a finance degree and become a banker. Just my 2 cents on that.

Go to the bank and ask to see the personell manager... seriously.. that's how I got a tellers job at the bank, normally they like to see at least an AS level of education... Make sure you bring your resume with you. And call back in a few days to check on progress.
Good luck
