How can you find out if a place will hire you as a Pharmacy Tech Intern?
Asked by David
I am going to try to get my diploma as a Pharmacy Tech. I just wondered though, how do you go about finding out if a place like a hospital or place like walgreens would hire you as an intern until you get your diploma. Anyone know how you would find out?

Your best bet is probably your neighborhood Pharmacy store. Somewhere like Walgreens, CVS and such hire people as phamacy clerks and cashiers until they pass their Pharmacy Tech exam. It would be a good idea to work as a clerk or cashier or even volunteer until you take the exam. This will help you learn more as you study to become a Technician. In addition to however you study for the exam I would recommend you to buy some Pharmacy technician book at the bookstore and read through it and study it as well. Also take as many practice exams as you can. I hope I have helped! good luck!!!

In Minnesota, you can either be a Registered Pharmacy Technician or a Certified Pharmacy Technician. The Certified Tech takes an exam and the license costs about $120.00. Or, you can be a Registered Technican, do not need to take an exam and the license is $20.00. So, if you were in Minnesota all you would need to do is register with the state and you could apply for Pharmacy Technician jobs with any pharmacy that hires Registered Techs.
Now, if your state operates the same way you could apply at Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc and gain experience until you get your diploma. The hospital in the city in which I live hires Certified Techs so you wouldn't be able to obtain a job there until you took the exam.
Hope that helps you. Good luck with your degree, you have a rewarding career to look forward to!
