I work for a lab (we test construction materials) we have a Lab Manager, but we also have a General Manager who over sees everyone. When a job is advertised and even when someone just sends there CV in it generally goes to the General Manager. Sending it to the Lab Manager won't do any harm, but it always helps to go to the head honcho! Good luck!

Depends on the company. Some companies leave hiring up to the human resources dept.

Usually there is a professor who runs the lab. They would be the one to ask since its their lab and they will know if they have the resources available to hire a new student. Alot of labs pay students from their grants, so it can be a challenge to get in. Good luck

You should contact the company to ask who you should address your CV and Covering Letter to as this will look more impressive.
