Construction engineer or reliablity engineering which one is better?
Asked by planck12
I am a chemical engineer by background completed my engineering 2 years back. My ambition to to land up with in management towards the oil/gas side of things particular in a higher ranking position with refiniers like shell or exonn etc. It seem that there are quite a few openings in reliablity/maintenence and construction engineering as opposed to process engineer (which seem to have a lot of experience). So my question pertaning to which amogest the construction engineering or reliablity enginereing is better experience to gain based on the outcome of making more money and climbing the corporate ladder fast. Again I am a chemical engineer by background having worked in instrumention for one year after grad.
Thanks

I'm not sure about the others, but you should look closer into the description of construction engineer. Would you be doing true engineering or would you be doing project engineering. There is a big difference. Project engineering for construction is basically a person who coordinates schedules, deliveries, and all other activities pertaining to a construction project. It's a very interesting job if you like construction and a great way to move up in the construction world, but it is not engineering in the math based, design sense. I hope that this helped a bit!
