How long does the training academy for california correctional officer last?

I was wondering how long the training academy lasts? Do you have to live on site? How often do the academys start, I mean once I am accepted through all the tests and such, how soon would I go to the academy? Please give me an idea of what it is like.. Thanks

Academy lasts 16 weeks, do not have to live on site. They start about every 6 weeks. It takes about 13 month from written exam to academy entry.

you have to go through the police academy before you can think about being a correcttional officer so that is what you have to do but the reason is what i said is becuse you have ti be a police officer before so you know have knowledge of what do to and how to handle crimnials at jail or correctional facuty
