Asked by S'Rae
I am interested in learning more about both fields. I was told to pick one or the other. The differences as far as salary, bonuses, commissions, travel, other perks such as medical and dental benifits, company car, ect. I am also intereested in knowing which field is more stable and which field offers more growth and earning potential.

Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives often have much better hours as they typically visit doctor's offices and pharmacies during normal business hours. However, many medical device sales representatives have to be on call at all times so that they can attend surgeries or provide advice to doctors using their products at all times of the day. For example, if you sell trauma products - you might be called into a trauma surgery at 3 a.m. Selling implants (reconstructive, heart, etc.) can have more regular hours but you would still have to be available on occasion when a doctor wants to consult with you about an upcoming surgery, problem or other need. Both provide excellent salaries and benefits but can be difficult to break into. Good luck!
