how do you become a video game tester/ quality control?

i have been woundering this ? for years and decided to ask all of you about it i can play all types of games and alot of fun doing it it would be great if someone could help me out to fulfill my dream job thank you

Working as a Quality Assurance tester in the game industry is a full time job -- however, it isn't as fun as it sounds, and you don't get to test that many games. Typically you are assigned to test one game for several months, usually one section of one game, simply trying to break the game in as many ways as possible. If you work in QA at a large publisher like EA, you might have more variety of games come across your desk, but you will still be assigned to test very narrow sections of one specific game at a time. Your job as a QA tester is *not* to play the games and tell the developers how to make them more fun. Your job is to make sure that the game is working correctly, so that *other* people will be able to have fun with it someday. If you think the realities of QA testing sound like something you could enjoy doing 40+ hours per week, you can look for job postings for QA on Gamasutra.com, or look for studios near where you live on the map here: http://gamedevmap.com/ . Most game studios will *not* pay for relocation for a first time QA tester, so only apply to game companies in your area.
