I believe this to b bullshit though since most of the attorneys i know work over 55. Is this likely enuf that u can expect to get a job as an attorney working 40 hrs a week?

This really depends on so many factors: what field of law? do the attorneys have many clients? are they going to trial anytime soon? are they working on a motion? are the clients high-profiled? is the attorney "good?" does he or she have assistants or associates? I've seen attorneys work as little as 35 hours to as much as 70 hours per week. It just depends on whats going on in the case.

If they are only working 40 - 45 hours a week then their client load is small, and case load is not very much. Attorneys and law firms make money for hours that are billed to a client. If the attorney is not working enough hours and billing enough hours, then he won't be working their very long. The goal is 50 - 60 hours a week for a large firm.

it really depends on the case load, how well off the clientele are, the size of the firm
