I think I would rather be an elementary school teacher than a RN. A nurse works long hours, works shifts (days, evenings, nights), and works weekends and holidays. Not to mention it is a very stressful and high-demand job and you are dealing with sickness and death almost every day. As a teacher you work Monday to Friday from 8-4, you get weekends, holidays and summers off and you have a direct positive impact on children's education. That is just my opinion. You choose what you think will be more rewarding to you.
Good luck!
I used to be a nurse

A registered nurse ... helping someone feel better has got to be very rewarding!

I would rather be an elem. school teacher for the following reasons:
1. I can't handle whining/complaining adults
2. I don't want to work the weird hours that nurses work (straight 20 hours, swing shifts, holidays, etc)
3. School teachers get summer off!
This is all based on the premise that income wouldn't be an issue & that I like children

An elementary school teacher. I love children, and I would receive a lot of satisfaction in knowing that I played a role in their development. Education is definitely power.

Both are great proffesions and the only thing you can do is wigh the benefits such as you can take both with you know matter where you go, but an rn usually averages $45,000-$60,000 a year and thats not including what a travel nurse makes you might as well double that then teachers are underpaid but both help people so basically its a money vs rewards situation if you dont need money as bad and want to help kids than teacjing would be ideal if you want more money and to help sick people well you get the point.

A registered nurse; I have substitute taught and while I enjoy well behaved children, you have no control over who is coming into your classroom (abused children, children who don't want to learn or behave, and children's hot headed parents). I realize nursing isn't easy either but at least you have contact with adults during the day instead of being responsible for 20+ students mostly by your self. Nursing doesn't require any work done at home as far as I know either. Teachers don't just spend the 8-5 day working...they do weekends as well.
