as electrician jobs go,which is better?new construction or maintenance work?

i have been working in new construction for 3 years,and will have my journeymans license in 6 months.new construction is quite tiring,but im worried that it will be hard to find a good maintenance position.any maintenance electricians out there in yahoo land?

hello....i don't really know about electrical. but however my grandfather owns a plumbing company and has been in the business for about 50 years now. He say there is more money in maintenance.

Getting your electricians license should be your main concern. When you have that... 1<a large company will be more inclined to hire you. 2<if you wish to start your own business,you will be prepared...with the electricians license. With the building boom going on....it is easy to get work...once there is a slow down...any work is good...new construction or maintenance. You are in it for the long run...all work is good....thus prepare yourself by learning and relarning your craft. Good Luck. dg nyc

dont be worried yet what you need to do is be on both sides of the fence i.e new construction and maintenance. dont just stick on one side. your viability will always depend on what you can offer in on each side at any time.is good to have experience on all sides of your field you dont know whose season it is.get all certifications on all sides you have gone thru. its an insurance
