What do you think of Quality Assurance as a career?
Asked by dancingcorpse
I have a BsC in Statistics and I am thinking of getting a certificate in QA so I can work as a QA auditor or an engineer. I think QA is very related to Stats that's why I want to take it. Do you think it's a good career move? Any suggestions for Stats-related careers? Thanks!

It's a good field but you will be the one that takes all the heat when something goes awry. You won't win any popularity contests within the company. Their is a low ceiling as far as the career ladder goes but it's a good start.

If that is what your intertests are and it pays well. OK

QA has a very limited career path (pyramid) so you need a plan to move out of it after say 7-10 years. QA is also an area where there is usually a bit (depends on your company and their management style) of confrontation between the development teams and QA. And you are always behind the 8 ball when trying to get all the facts.
