Good thinking... Learn about Solar Technology (photovoltaic), or something about water pollution abatement or technologies that will not be so dependent on fossil fuel i.e. oil, gas, coal and many more.
Studies in renewable technologies are the trend of the future look around observe the car manufacturers, next will be the houses and the big factories.. see and learn..

The need for new technologies will be key in the upcoming years. For instance, the auto industry will want to build more efficient cars due to mandated federal mileage standards (CAFE) due to new global warming legislation, so an enginner in the auto industry would be good.
I think careers in Environmental Engineering (Environmental Science) is always a good bet. Certainly, technological fields in solar cells or wind power will be more in demand with the need to go to renewable sources. Careers in the coal or oil industries may be less attractive due to a shift from these energy sources.
