Asked by dreamgirl L
I am currently taking a medical front office certificate at Williston state college online and I wanted to know would this be enough to get a receptionist position in the dental office. I have no work experinece and I dont know about dental codes and the terminology in the course talked little about dental terminology. If any one has any advise or has worked in the dental industry please let me know how I can get an entry level postion in the feild and what will task would I be required to do? Let me know what your experience was working in the dental feild?

You will need to have some general dental knowledge, but this is something that you can learn fairly easily. You will need to answer the phone and know how to schedule different types of appointments...fillings, root canal, crowns, prophy...etc... You will have to learn the computer program the office uses. You may have to deal with insurance unless the office has someone who deals with that already. Picking up a dental assisting book might be in your best interest so that you can get a start on dental terminology.
