Asked by AFK
I mean what's the career path that working in the call center for an insurance company can lead to? Do you think it's a dead end position, b/c i don't want to work for call center forever.

You certainly have few options. You can become a manager, a team leader or an operation manager in the call centre. And as you mentioned if you don't want to work for a call centre forever then if you sell financial product then you can pursue a sales/marketing career. I don't think its a dead end.

You are right on the ball. It is a dead-end position that offers very little growth. At most you may be able to maybe move up to a manager's position, but where would you take that experience too? It would be management experience in the call center. Not actual office, etc...

Working at any call center can lead to management positions in other call centers (that would not deal with insurance companies)
I worked in a call center for Sears back in 2000 and I was dealing with Customer Service and I only worked for 3 months. I work in a Call Center now, but it is in Collections at a cell phone company.
And some companies will consider time in a call center as time in the office because you are
1 - Answering Phones
2 - Working with Microsoft Programs
3 - Work on AS4000 program
4 - Typing and in some cases
5 - Writing
Do not consider it a Dead End because you could parly only 6-9 months into a great office job
