What are the typical job duties of a cost accountant?
Asked by wuvie
In seeking employment, 'cost accountant' continues to come up when using keywords regarding my experience and abilities. Would I be correct in assuming a cost accountant would basically be a bean counter? Figuring costs down to the penny highly interests me. Would there be a particular college course which may be helpful in this field? Many thanks.

Cost Accounting courses are available in most of the better accounting schools.Mine were taken in conjunction with the degree in Industrial Management where Time Study, Operations Analysis, Manufacturing methods were reviewed. The purpose is to determine the costs of making a product so as to establish a selling price which is profitable. This can apply to services being rendered, advice being given as well.
