I manage hotels and have bene in hospitality for 8 years. Some colleges/universitys have Hopitality degrees. But, hands on can be a great teacher, maybe even better. Learning not only customer service and customer care by being in front of the customer eevery day is the first step. If I were you I would take advantage of the job you have and try to volunteer for projects by the mnagers to help you get exposed to things like Competitive Shops, Supply ordering, and Credit card charge backs. All of these tasks are time consuming but if you can help with things like this, it will give you exposure to more aspects of hotels. But be aware. The hospiality industry is not for everyone. SOmetime long hours and working more than 5 days a week. A hotel is like a 24 hour business and the further you get up the food chain, the more challenging it will be. But, either you love it or hate it. I got my degree in Bus. Management. Like it or not, finance is needed so you can manage expenses and maximize revenue. Econmics so you can understand rates vs. supply.
