Is an associates degree going to make decent jobs available?

Bookkeepers and clerks, until you get experience or further education. And Gene was totally off. You cannot become a CPA (need more credits than a bachelors) nor an accountant dealing with general ledger with an associates. An associates is your foot in the door, then continue your education and increase your experience.
20+ years accounting WITHOUT a bachelors/assoicates (but I have more completed all the accounting courses required for the bachelors)

You can get a typical accounting job - with journal entries, month-end close, book keeping, etc. Or you can get a CPA license and get a better job with better pay.
