Desktop Support Engineer n IT Support Specialist what's the difference?
Asked by Jaz
I'm applying for job in tech support, and i'm so confused. Mainly is there a difference between Desktop Support Engineer and IT Support Specialist? other positions like IT Support Engineer / Desktop Support Specialist / Desktop Engineer / Desktop Specialist ... is there one that's good for resume or can we ignore these and just focus on the job descriptions??

Best Answer:
Definitely read the job description. The one difference may be that Desktop Support is clearly focused on supporting end users and their PCs. An IT Support Engineer may be required to support other equipment like servers, routers, network printers, etc.

A:

A:
Agree, read the job description of each position. In my former company, a Desktop Support Engineer has to work with the user in the user's work area in resolving computer problems / challenges. He also installs software updates and does hardware diagnostics. Hardware repair is done by another person.

Desktop is more limited.
