What is a good, non-food service, part-time job?
Asked by Anne A
I'm still in high school, and I am interested in a job. I do not want to work in food service, however! I am interested in tutoring, but there seem to be no opportunities here. Any other suggestions?

I recommend you become a socialist. If you like answering questions of yahoo answers. Then you'd probably should be a socialist. Followed by being a therapist if you are to be more passionate about it.

Clothing stores like Hollister or Zumiez or PacSun, depending on your clothing style are great for part time. Most Hollisters have so many part time workers that you can get like 15 hours a week so you have time for school and friends but still get paid. Zumiz and Pacsun don't usually have as much employees but part tiem you still get about 20ish hours each week.

For the best money you have two options:
Find a store in which you have alot of experience and passion about the product (E.G. you like electronics, go to Best Buy) and find a job that sets you at a decent hourly wage and gives you a commission. You can make upwards of $13 an hour that way.
Look at a job website (yahoo jobs is good) at the listings of private parties in your area or in an affluent suburb near you. Lots of people will pay a ridiculous hourly wage for looking after kids (part time nanny), house-sitting, grocery shopping, etc. This one helps if you have a car.

There's always Retail, Janitorial, and sometimes part time secretary or bookkeeping if you've had the right classes. You could also check with local hospitals, nursing homes, and and assisted living facilities for work. Farms may have work available. Or the Zoo, Aquarium, or Aviary. Just look around and also ask around. Ask your parents to put the word out that you are looking to earn some money.

If tutoring doesn't seem to be an option you could try babysitting. If you do a good job it will prove your responsibility, and you will have a good reputation. Also, if you prove that you're smart and good enough, the parents may be willing to higher you for tutoring. Always be prepeared, responsable, and keep an open mind about jobs!
Good luck!
