How to get an internship or a traineeship in a hospital?

Hi, I'd like to find a 1 year long paid internship or traineeship in the laboratory of an hospital. I'm not a student anymore. I graduated recently. I'd like to know if hospitals can hire interns or trainees that aren't in a program or college. Are there restrictions? Do they need to do a lot of paperwork to hire an intern or trainee? They are all looking for trainees. Just put in your application at any you come across. They will call you when they need you.
