What is the average salary for a 24 year old male?
Asked by Positively Pink
This is out of curiosity that was sparked by a recent conversation. What is the average salary for a 24 year old male with a college degree? I know location in the country matters so say in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island/Connecticut area. If you could prove what you're saying that would be even better. A best answer will be chosen. Thanks. -Brit Maybe this will be easier to answer. If a 24 year old male with a college degree is earning $50,000 a year, is that below average, average, or above average?

Best Answer:
about $45,000.

The salary depends on the person. Someone without a college degree and who has exceptional communication skills will get further in promotions than the 24 yr old college male. It depends what you have an how you use it. My brother makes 35,000 and he is in investment banking. How does that help? If it does, I'm glad.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but this discussion contains some good info on average college graduate salaries as compared to non-grads, and ponters to a few additional links. http://askville.amazon.com/money-college-graduate-earn/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=3839287

It really depends on the area. My boyfriend is an accountant, and I work in radio. Accountants seem to get paid a lot more, while radio gets a lot less. It also depends on how competitive the area is. If there are not as many people doing the job, you can haggle and get more money. It is also affected by job history. If the person finished college at 21 and had been working for a few years, he would get more than someone straight out of college. My brother works in IT and is skilled, he is 22 and earns about $35,000 USD. I would say that is just slightly above average, but I'm basing that on Australian jobs.

I am 24, male, have a college degree in engineering. I currently live in New York City. I had no previous work experience (just a few internships while I was in college). I make $70,000 + bonuses + healthcare benefits + 401k + RBAP + corporate perks - TAX - RENT - BAR TABS (expenses are huge in NYC). And as you requested, yes, I can prove what I am saying. Obviously, I'm not going to post my tax return reports or any personally identifiable information here (for security and privacy reasons). If you would like proof (as you stated), shoot me an email or find me on facebook. We'll go from there. You mentioned that you are interested in finding the average. I just wanted to add that, according to the Career Services Office at my university, I earn slightly below average among peers from my graduating class (again, I can prove this). According to www.salary.com, I earn about average among peers in the same profession and same industry. I'd also recommend that you check out that website as well. I hope this helps give some visibility into what you were looking for...
