Can I negotiate a higher base salary for an outside sales rep??

I have been offered a position as an outside sales rep.. I recieved my offer letter today but I am very unhappy with the base salary. I will be getting commission but I want my base salary to be about $3000 - $5000 higher. I was placed into this position through a headhunter and it is a Fortune 350 company. Outside sales reps.... Can I negotiate for a higher base salary?

higher base means less commission...you can try,, it depends on company policy...............
