How to get started with CCNA?
Asked by cmp
I am currently working as a field technician for a small networking company, installing routers, switches, T1, phones, running cable, terminating, RJ45, electrical, low voltage, etc... I currently have 3 yrs exp working for this company. Would this count as experience in getting my CCNA and landing a good paying job and also eventually getting my CCIE cert? What can I expect to be making?
Please Help... Thanx!

a basic understanding of networking is a good start for CCNA, check the Cisco website they list the objectives for the CCNA. As for the CCIE, the certification is overkill for most jobs, and also the test for the CCIE i believe is around $1250. For most jobs i believe getting a CCNA then going for a CCNP would be sufficient. If you wish to pursue more certifications Cisco has the design path as well. Also consider certifications from other companies such as microsoft.
