More focused on my future career than my future relationships...?

Okay. Some of you all may have read my break-up story with a "Free-Loading JackA*s". I've pretty much been thinking over Christmas break about my future career. I want to become a Auto Mechanic. Ever since my first real relationship with a guy who was in love with Mechanicing I wanted to become a mechanic. I have helped my (current) exboyfriend work on his 305 in his 68 Chevy truck so I know somewhat about motors and transmissions, etc. My question is, exactly how can I get on the right road and become very successful someday? Any tips on how to start a future buisness or any adivce on how to be the best I can be? (I am 15 years old by the way)

Go to college and get more opportunities. Being an auto mechanic is reputable, however is becoming more difficult as time goes on. By the time you finish school you will have to be more a computer programmer than a mechanic to work on cars. In addition, as an auto mechanic you cap your earning potential then if you go school to learn how to program computers to repair the cars. You probably saw the commercial that the car e-mails the car owner what's going on. the last time I went to the car dealer I was told the the guys in Detroit are working on a system that the car will tune itself up over night in the garage. You will never have to bring the car in for a tune up. Cheers and good luck!

I would just say to please be honest and don't jack people around like most mechanics.

It's hard to answer without knowing what you consider to be "very successful". If that means owning your own business, then you'll definitely want to go to college to take some business courses. Also, given that so much of being a mechanic these days involves computer diagnostics, you'll probably want to take some computer courses as well. Even though college is a few years away yet, you can still work toward your goal by seeking out a job at an auto shop. At this early stage, *any* shop job (even in the office) would give you exposure and experience to ensure this is the right field for you. Good luck!
