You should still be able to get a savings account. I know someone who can't get a checking account because he's listed in ChexSystems as a bad risk. However, he was able to get a savings account so he could get his paychecks.
Here is a list of banks that don't use ChexSystems, you may be able to get an account through one of them.

Try going to a credit union and getting a savings account. A lot of banks out there are second chance banks meaning that if you have screwed up they will give you a second chance. I am from Kansas and ours is called Bank Midwest. Just look in the phone book and start calling around. Be honest with them about your past and explain your current situation.

Some small loan companies have direct deposit services for a monthly fee. Check your yellow pages and call around or call human resources of your company to see if they can make an exception. If not, maybe a relative can co-sign for a bank account for you! good luck!

try credit union banks. In Florida there is bright star credit union. You do not need to be a teacher.
Can apply on line but it is better to go in person so they can deal with you on an individual basis.

Try a Credit Union. They are generally really easy to join and a lot less stuffy than a bank.

Credit doesn't matter. You can open a checking account, unless you're blacklisted with the FBI and they want to annoy you. Are you a suspected druglord?

I dont know if you have a Wal Mart but a co worker of mine HAD the same problem. She now banks with Woodforest Bank (usually in Wal Mart) and its like a second chance. Or try a credit union. Or you can get a Rush Card and they can direct deposit on there

Check with your employer and see if they can credit your earnings to a card, that operates like a gift card. Many payroll processors offer this option

You need to go to a different bank. You WANT to have a checking account(not a line of credit) & direct deposit is a good thing in the long run.

Well, there has to be a way you can pay off the debt you owe. That will usually allow you to open a bank account once the debt is settled. Just go to any bank and have them run your history through their computer and see whom you owe the debt to currently. Also a lot of banks will run a second chance account just for people like you that need something for direct deposit. Find out what bank your company banks with and talk to that bank about it. They may be able to help you out. Also most companies that force you to get direct deposit have an alternate way to pay you. Usually its putting your money on a special debit card that you can withdraw money from ATMs with. There will be some fees involved, but that's what happens when you dont have a bank account.

I've got a heads-up for you. MANY companies are going to direct deposit only - this is becoming more and more common.
I don't understand you people that don't pay your freakin' bills - what is up with that? You end up screwed every-which-way and then whine about it. Pay your freakin' bills and be responsible and you won't have that problem.
Get a copy of your credit report and see if it shows who is holding the debt. You may just be able to call one of the credit companies and they can tell you over the phone who has it and how to pay it. The money will have to be paid back.
As you have learned, these people saying "go to a different bank" are wrong. When you have oustanding debt with one bank, other banks will not open an account for you because you are too high risk.
Suck it up and pay off what you owe - then open a new account and be responsible with it.

i have never heard of a work place only having direct deposit sounds weird i would tell them that they need to pay you with a check and tell them your situation without to much detail if they say they can't then try using a family member you can trust maybe they will let you use their account or open an account with a cosigner if you have a family member who will cosign then you can get an account that way or a very trust worthy friend because this is your money were talking about you need to trust the person completely that cosigns with you

most banks with direct deposit thru your job will give you a free one provided you don't owe other banks money. So, if the bank closed that you owed the somebody bought out their loans..you need to find out whom and try to get a letter of clearance. I was accused of that once to an old bank owing money only thing they could not find out what the other bank was talking about. If so in your case then you need to talk to your comapny's accounting person

Try a credit union! They have direct deposit, and less stringent requirements. Not to mention better service, lower fees, and community involvement.
Also, if you can get a savings account, you can have your check direct-deposited to that also, doesn't have to be a checking account.

Your company cannot only pay direct deposit, but I am sure you would rather not open that can of worms with them.
So, find a small locdal bank and explain the situation. Ask them what services they offer that can help. I believe they will open a savings account for you that will allow you direct deposit the money.
They will also give you a debit card that can only access the savings account for ATM access, not for use in stores, etc. They have services to protect themselves while trying to help you get back on your feet.
But be honest with them without telling them your life story.
Hope this helps.

Keep going to banks until you find one that will take you. I didn't realize banks would do that to people-I've never had problems with bad checks. With USBank you're given a limit so you can go over to a reasonable amount but you have to pay that back. If you have a history of depositing money they don't penalize you for having a bad check. I know of another bank that doesn't penalize you but they do charge you a fee.

I believe in nearly all states an employer cannot force employees to be paid by direct deposit. Check your state's Department of Labor website -- it may be that they will have to pay you via check or cash.

Let your company know the situation and see if you can get an account with their bank and have no checks. Just get direct deposit account. And get an ATM card for now.

Visa does issue check cards that work the same as a bank account and ATM card specifically for people who either don't want to get a checking account or can't. Check into that.
