South Carolina Labor Law Question?
Asked by jcraw5879
Do I have a right to know what is expected of me for promotion? I am not asking for a "do this and you are automatically promoted" I am asking for a general guideline of what I need to work on to make it to the next level.
Any website resources would be greatly appreciated. Also I tried to call the labor board but they will not answer general questions without a formal complaint.

No. But, if you would like to get a promotion (I'm assuming management is where you want to promote to), you have to display certain skills (teamwork, leadership, ability to take on more tasks without complaining) before you'll be looked at (and you should apply for any of those positions that come up).
Your employer should have a job description of other positions available and what skills are required in order to obtain such a position.
Also, although I don't like it, it doesn't hurt to kiss up/brown nose.
