Should I include this job experience on my Resume?
Asked by Anonymous
Okay, so I worked at my job before last, for over two years. I quit that job because a new job came up for me in another field that I am very interested in. This new/last job was through a staffing agency, yet basically working for the direct company as an employer, at the same time. I only worked there for about 1 week and 1 day, and quit after our managers held a meeting and basically said that a lot of the people there were messing up and wasting a lot of money. The policies were that you basically had to sign off on a co-workers' job when they started it, by checking the first five cards/letters (it was printing credit cards and insurance cards at a secure production facility). So, of course...you'd sign off on the first five because they were correct...and there might be 2,000 in one print job. Then you'd leave at the end of your shift and the next worker on the next shift would take over. The machines messed up a lot, sometimes right in the middle. It was also quality control
so we basically had to check them while we were watching the machines...every 20 or so, to make sure the machine didn't randomly start printing wrong.
My co-workers wouldn't follow policy...and the company policy changed to where you basically would get a writeup first, then suspension for two days without pay, then a month off without pay; in that order, for each occurance that the said co-worker might have missed, but you signed for the job. Basically a lot of bs. You'd get fired for somebody else's mistake...and I surely would have, so I quit ahead of time. Should I include this one week of experience if it was through this staffing company? Because I was thinking that it may look like I 'changed jobs too much' or whatever, with two different jobs in the same month...and only staying at the second job for a week, which I couldn't really help. I know there is a 'consumer report' or something. Would something like that show up on it, and how long does it take to do so? Thanks.
And sorry about the typos...I typed "employer" when it should have been "employee"...and whatever else I missed. I was in a hurry.

I am going to have to go the opposite and say list it because if they do any type of back ground check they could easily see that you've work for X company.... But I would list it as a Temp agency: Working with Credit Card processing in ___ department. Gained vast knowledge while working with others to perform _____(duties).. You don't have to list the negative or the bs but the positive atributes to the job and what you learned while there... But keep in mind it does show that you were working and there are no gaps in your employement history...
Good luck

don't list it. if they ask you can say it was temp work and you didn't want to add it to your resume because it wasn't long enough and also wasn't pertinent to your experience/ what you were gearing your resume towards. just be truthfully when/if they ask and you should be fine. no one really needs to be putting 1 week long jobs on their resume.

I wouldn't if I were you, It would only make a blot on your resume. However, there will be some questions as to why you resigned from your previous job of two years during the interview. You have to prepare for this question.
Good luck
