can anyone with a criminal background work in a nuclear power plant?

My buddy is trying to get hired at a NPP but has a blemish on his record. He has a conviction in federal court.

The big things are: DISCLOSE it to the access authorization people. If they find out on their own you are toast. If it is a crime dealing with dishonesty, you may be toast. Other than that, it depends on what the crime is, how long ago it was, and whether there has been evidence that it is ancient history (went to NA or AA and have been clean for 20 years).

No. Think about it, if you are the hiring manager and it's between two equally qualified folks (but one of them has a federal record) who would YOU hire?

Yes, in fact you can not work in a nuclear power plant UNLESS you have a criminal record. They hire criminals only! Hey! I'm kidding, OK?
