Hi im at college doing hair and looking for a part time job like waitressing i dont have GCSEs or anything!!! is being a waitress easy what do you have to do like i know you serve people but what do they right down etc help...also if i wanted a job what would i do just go in and say are you hiring

I've never been a waitress, but my best friend is, and trust me, it is anything but easy dealing with irrate, self-centered customers, as well as everything it takes to keep a restraunt going.

I couldn't do waitressing... but they clear tables. take orders, serve food. listen to complaining customers, roll silverware, fill salt and pepper, kethup....I am not sure what else they do....stand on their feet all day... I always tip high because I would never be able to do the job they do....To all the servers out there...Thank You

Theres alot of knowledge u have to pick up quickly depending on how good the restaurant is. And you have to be good at balancing multiple tasks. You'll be suprised how many people are completely useless at it.

I'm a server. there are a lot of servers who are going to college where i work. first, are you a good multi-task oriented person? second, are you a people person? and third, can you take criticism? if you can answer yes to all 3 you can be a server. we deal with a lot of things during a shift: nasty/needy customers bad tempered/drugged out cooks power tripping/inefficient management running out of certain food/drinks halfway through shift people that don't tip no matter how much you do for them slow/ lazy busboys there are too many things to list, but if you work well under pressure and can handle extreme chaos you too can be a server!
