Leave my permantent position for a Contract position?
Asked by hurley
HI, I currently work fulltime in a company (ontario, canada) for two years. Honestly I am not happy at work and I have been searching for other jobs. I got an offer from a big company but its a Contract position for 12 months. (no benefits) The pay better than what I make now. any suggestions? I only have 2 years of work experience and I thought maybe a contract position can allow me to gain a different work experience. but I am not sure if I get unemployment benefits after my contract ends?... please share your thoughts thanks!

You probably should check in to the cost of insurance - because the increased salary is probably just about enough to cover your insurance costs. A contract position is a little scary, because remember if that contract doesn't get renewed you'll be looking for another job in 12 months. AND is the contract beginning when you start the job, or are they already 3 months in to the 12 month contract? You've got a lot to think about.....
