How do I get started as a financial analyst?

I am recent college graduate with no experience as an analyst. Most employers require at least some experience for this position. I want to know where to get started so that I may gain some experience.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Yes, experience is helpful, but there are other skills you can highlight to a potential employer. In addition to financial knowledge, Analyst need to have good math, accounting, computer, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Proficiency with Excel, Access, and Powerpoint are all helpful. Even if you are not familiar with a particular application that a company uses, you can at least demonstrate an ability to quickly pick-up the new software.
Most analyst start out supporting more senior analysts by performing basic reporting and data gathering tasks. As the Anayst gains experience and their bosses trust, they will be given more responsibilities and more self-directed work.
