Asked by cisco.leon
Looking to take a new job in NY (moving from Sydney Australia). What is a good salary in US dollars for an IT Business Analayst in NYC? Sorry - I currently have 3 years experience as a BA. 8+ years in the IT field. As a BA I would would say I am "Intermediate" in an effort to level my experience realistically. I consider 5+ years to be Senior BAs.

That's an entry level job right out of college. I would be surprised if the salary is more than $60,000 for New York. Probably more like $40 - 50.

A:
According to google, $100-175K base salary

150K as a Business Analyst?!!! That's strong crack you're smoking. A Business Analyst is a more specialized Project Manager. After several years, you may see those 6 figure salaries, but when you land in the big Apple, expect around 60K. Elsewhere in the country, about 40-50K.
