Do you absolutely have to have a bartenders license to be a bartender?
Asked by mizzhollywood26
i can remember someone telling me that she was a bartender at like age 17. i want the quick money, but i don't wanna do it forever (i have a degree) so, i don't see any point in getting a license. i just want something for now.

i have been in the business as a general manager for some of the biggest and best hotel chains for 40 years and never had a bartender licensed. trained yes and there are schools for bartending, unless you are working in a shot and beer place training is always good, because the first time u shake a martini, or get asked to make a wallbanger you will realize that u dont know what u r doing lol., however, the law in most states is u must be 21 to serve alcohol, younger servers can take the order however someone over 21 must serve and remove glasses, check the laws of your state.
