Ok, so need to ask a question to all the business owners in here, is $99 a month for a min of 5 hours a good rate to pay for a bookkeeper? This is for very small business looking for someone to telecommute or do the books at home. I am thinking about advertising, but not sure if the rate is ok. If it is not, then what rate would you pay or what would jump out at you? I have a BA in Accounting and over 15 years experience in full charge bookkeeping.

The key word is MINIMUM. If only 5 hours, then $20.00 an hour is not bad, but if you go over, then it is not. If you go over, then they should pay the same ( not more because they will argue that if you went under, they would want it back).

If you do the math on these figures, working 40 hours per week with a full load of clients you can expect to gross maximum 792 per week! I personally don't think this is nearly enough for the 4 years spent in getting your degree and the 15 years of experience. Especially when you figure that a line worker at GMC or FORD makes $37.00+ per hour! and that's with only a high school education and only working about 4 hours out of the day!
