Job Interview Help !?
Asked by Love my LO!
I have a job interview tomorrow and i'm nervous (havent had one in awhile) i've been at my current employer almost 2 years now and worked my way up from general clearical/ receptionist to bookkeeper/ admin assistant. I'm looking for a more stable work environment and mainly for more personal reasons. Its a part time position as a receptionist and I think I may be a little over qualified I have about 3 years experience in office work etc. and bookkeeping and i'm 20 years old. Any times on how to do well on an interview I always seem to not know what to say like when they ask " describe yourself" and whats your biggest weakness and how did you over come it.

Here is how I would answer the weakness question. “I am a perfectionist and cant leave until all of today's work
is done; HOWEVER I am a team player and will follow my
Managers lead.” or “My weakness is multi-tasking because I like to prioritize; HOWEVER I am learning to do multiple things at once and still give the customer my full attention.” or “I have trouble delegating; HOWEVER I am getting better
at trusting others abilities.”
On the describe yourself question mention the work and skill stuff you mentioned in your question (but don't say you are over qualified). Stay away from personel stuff and keep it employment and training oriented.

Positive thinking. Always think of a situation that shows you in a good light, try the star method. Situation, task , action , result.

The best advice I could give would be to rehearse and practice how you'd answer the questions ahead of time. So when you do go in for the interview, you'll have an idea of what you want to say - even if the questions aren't exactly what you anticipated.
This site is good - gives some advice on how to answer the common questions...
