Asked by imjp41
I would like to move into management positions, but I have no supervisory experience. I will receive my MBA in May and am currently employed in high level State job. What is the best approach to transitioning into a management position?"

A:
Best Answer:
- Research the companies you want to work for. Very important is to ask yourself the question: "What do I want?" "Which company best represents what I value and want?" - Apply for a position that will allow you to shine, because you have the skills and because you are enthusiastic and highly professional. - Make sure that companies you select, allow rapid transition to management, and apply for positions that are one rung below management and that will allow you to be your best and their best. - Early on, in the job, ask your boss what she/he wants from you, to demonstrate your leadership in the organization. Ask the person to give examples and be as explicit as possible. Demonstrate that you are meeting those requirements. Check along the way with your boss, that you are on the right track. - If you notice that your boss does not keep his/her word, look for another job, sooner than later, always making sure that you are doing a good job, recognized by your peers and other managers, as well as your boss. - The rest is up to you! Best of luck!
