you need a fork lift licence.
you could think about getting a job in a warehouse and after a while ask if they will pay for your training.

You can either pay to be trained yourself or get a job where they train in house your points have no influence on a forklift license

Try getting a warehouse job for one of the larger companies like DHL, Tesco etc. They often train people up, usually on a 3 day course. Counter balance is most commonly required in job adverts but reach truck is the harder of the 2 licences to get. Once you have your forklift licence, you will never be out of work. If you can't find a proper permanent job, try through the agencies, they are crying out for forklift drivers all the time.

your car licence has nothing to do with your fork truck licence so dont worry about points. There are 2 main licences to go for, counter balance and reach.Find a training centre and apply to take em,you'll have to do a theory test 1st then the driving. If you go to the R.T.I.T.B (road transport industry training board) website they should have a list of local trainers.

There is not many jobs that are just fork truck driving, most are jobs that involve a bit of driving to do the job.So firstly you need to decide what sort of work you want to do ?.
Warehouse, building site etc then i would suggest getting a basic licence in the most commonly used truck in that field.
Then once you get a job most companies will pay for you to be trained on the other trucks used in there company.
Hope this helps worked in a warehouse for 20 years & can drive nearly every truck you can imagine

from my experience forklift driving is considered a crap job, you'll get little or no respect paid crap wages and be expected to work outside in all weather. theres nothing easy about forklift driving. i did it for 12 years and got treated like dirt. but it is steady work. agencies can get you work but pay crap rates
