Jamie R
no direct customer service or cash handling experience, is it possible to find a job as a bank teller?
Asked by Jamie R
i want to get into banking, and an entry-level job as a bank teller seems like the best way to start. i'm getting a degree (business)...but i dont' really have any prior cash handling or customer service experience...just wondering if these r really necessary before i apply for a bank teller job.

They do want that generally. A good way to get cash experience is to get a job as a data proof encoder. It's essentially ten key data entry, but it'll give you experience plus get you in the door.

It is possible because these positions are considered entry-level. However, they would prefer candidates with both of those types of experiences. Since you already have your degree, however, you should have a good shot. Just make sure you present yourself in a pleasant and customer-focused way and you should be fine. Good luck!
