Asked by Cobra
Hi, I am a BE graduate with around 6 years of experience in networking and security. I got a chance to move (internally in my company) from IT to the position of Oracle DBA. I am a beginner to Oracle. Please advice me if it is a right choice to make considering my experience. I also wanted to know the scope of networking and oracle DBA in India and abroad. Pls give me some ideas.

Stick with Oracle, my uncle works at Oracle and he has been there for the last 15 years i believe and his income is in that 90k-100k range now. He is involved in security at oracle so you can try and pursue a similar path.

A:
Having a background in networking and security is a solid foundation for any I.T. career. Moving into a position where you can ultimately become an Oracle administrator will open up many more opportunities. Network administrators are prevelant throughout the industry, but Oracle admins are in high demand in the financial, government and retail industries.
